Laundry Room Remodel
Three-Peat!
This remodel marks our third project in this home, with each update building on the last.
In this Mendota Heights home, our work continues as we create a space where the homeowners can age in place gracefully. This laundry remodel marks the third time we’ve partnered together in this home, with each project building on the last. Years ago, we reimagined their kitchen and bathroom, introducing warm quarter-sawn oak cabinetry — a design element that now carries into the newly transformed laundry room. What was once an inefficient, outdated space is now highly functional, thoughtfully organized, and designed to fit a lot into a small footprint.

Before

After

What the reconfigured layout allowed us to add:
- Stacked washer and dryer tucked neatly to one side, opening the room for more cabinetry
- A large tall storage cabinet (pulled 4″ off the wall to clear mechanicals)
- Dedicated recycling pullouts
- A shoe rack directly adjacent to the entry
- A new bench with hooks—smaller, better proportioned, and far more functional
- A full-height closet-style utility zone
Right off the entrance: a new laundry and mudroom
A wider doorway with a pocket door and a zero-threshold transition creates easier movement between spaces. This laundry remodel keeps the same footprint but uses it far more efficiently. It includes thoughtful storage and upgraded functionality.
Bi-fold doors were replaced with new slabs that match the cabinetry. This creates a cohesive visual flow that carries throughout the home.
Removing the closet and adding a pocket door created a much more open, efficient layout.

Mudroom with Built-In Storage
A warm, functional drop zone featuring a bench, hooks, and additional cabinetry—keeping the home tidy right off the main entrance.

Stacked Laundry & Custom Cabinetry
A streamlined setup with floor-to-ceiling storage, a stacked washer/dryer, and integrated organization that maximizes every inch.

Under-cabinet lighting and plenty of outlets for everyday convenience.

A place for everything, and everything in its place.
During the design stage, we think through all the nitty-gritty details. The cabinetry is sized for everyday essentials, and everything is easy to reach. Inside the tall cabinet, an outlet keeps the vacuum charged and out of sight. Additionally, pull-out recycling bins and open shelving add even more function to a space. This design works as hard as the homeowners do.
